Tags in WordPress 2.3!

Over the past couple of months I’ve been thinking I really need to overhaul my categories on this blog and replace them with tags. Tags match my mental habits better (aka: I do love me data about data) and would help with one-off posts, etc. However, I wasn’t looking forward to dealing with another WordPress plugin, etc. Today I decided to bite the bullet and just do it. I fired up Google and the first thing I notice is that, guess what? WordPress just added in tag functionality with version 2.3, released 5 days ago. I’m out of it for a while and suddenly everyone gets delusions of grandeur. Of course, it’s not just that simple. If you’re using a custom theme, you’re going to have to make some (easy) changes.

Arrr! It do be Talk Like a Pirate Day and as such the cats are wearing eye-patches and I be swillin’ rum. To prepare this fine cocktail you’ll be needing to first pirate a fine merchant vessel, preferably one with rum, sugar cane and spices.

Welcome fall in with class: a few links on scotch

If you’re one of those living in an area with actual seasons, fall may be starting to creep your way. I’m one of many who think fall is simply a delightful time of year: the heat of summer seeps away and a certain crispness fills the air. Things are less dramatic here, but I’m extremely grateful to wave goodbye to the late-August heat wave.

September: National Bourbon Heritage Month

Bourbon Manhattan How have I not heard of this already? According to Avenue Vine, on August 27th of this year, the US Senate passed a resolution to officially declare September 2007 “National Bourbon Heritage Month.” While that might not sound too official, it certainly seems good enough for me!
