Strindberg + helium

I somehow missed this when boingboing originally posted a link. Thankfully Emily pointed it out to me. To quote boingboing, “August Strindberg was a 19th Century depressive Swedish playwright who now stars in a series of convulsively funny Flash movies called Strindberg and Helium. In Strindberg and Helium, Strindberg has a little pink floaty balloon chum called Helium, who wheedles out happy messages.”

Only four videos up as I post this, all of them short. Worth a visit.

Bombay Sapphire

Bombay Sapphire is everywhere. This is the “Gateway Gin”; the first good gin that most people try. This gin is what started my love of the stuff, years ago in college. The magnificent blue bottle helps in presentation, but the gin itself is clear. Sapphire is very aromatic, which makes a fun martini but these days I find too harsh for my preferences.

Bombay Sapphire

This is an excellent introductory gin purely because it is so strong as to easily differentiate itself from gins like Beefeater. I keep a bottle around but use it almost exclusively for mixing (it makes a delightful Negroni).

Bombay Sapphire is 94 proof.

A Dictionary of Old Hobo Slang

A big list of slang words and translation from the Original Hobo Nickel Society. Lots of great imagery. It does prompt one to wonder what words comprise current hobo slang.
