Note the terraces high up on the mountain. There are many, often small (looked to me like 1/2 acre or even 1/4 acre) plots of farmed land on the sides of these mountains, often quite steep and high up. People seem to farm where they can, even in tiny areas that seem almost inaccessible and unmanageable.
