The only authentic Dutch windmill operating in the United States is in Holland, Michigan. The tour was super cool, it's a huge machine that's been in use since before World War II (and has the bullet holes to prove it); many wooden gears, bands, bees wax for lubricant, etc. We watched the miller as she used a 6' wide steering wheel (think from an old ship) to slowly swivel the blades into the sun.
