Everyone has to sign out and then back in when you return. This lets them search the mountain only when it's more likely to matter, but also does a surprisingly good job of spacing out the hikers. This is especially important at the sections of the trail where there are folks going both directions. This trail is often rather narrow and on the side of a cliff.
